Barkley Shrapnell BAILES was born in Bendigo, Victoria on 9th August, 1883

His parents were Alfred Shrapnell BAILES & Millinda Sperring STEPHENSON

He married Olive Amelia LYONS in Victoria in St Lukes Church, North Fitzroy on 18th March, 1911

He enlisted on 28th April, 1916 and embarked from Melbourne 25th September, 1916 with the 24th Infantry Battalion, 15th Reinforcements on the HMAT Shropshire

He returned to Australia on 3rd March, 1919 on the ship Euripides and disembarked on 24th April, 1919 - discharged on 17th June 1919

Barkley died in Warrandyte on 24th September, 1955
