Son of John Vearing and Margaret Vearing nee Laidlaw of Avenel, Victoria.

Thomas was apprenticed to a Mr. Laidlaw, Stonemason of Sydney, NSW for five years. Previiously served with the Victorian Mounted Rifles in South Africa.

Husband of Louisa Isa Vearing nee Bell of Bromby Street, South Yarra, Victoria. Thomas and Louisa married during 1895c in Victoria. Father of William Henry Vearing who returned to Australia on 6 August 1919 having served with the 14th Field Artillery Brigade

Commenced return to Australia on 22 April 1919 aboard HT Dorset disembarking on 11 June 1919
