Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Albert was the youngest of three children of Martin John Perry (born 1884 in Homebush, Victoria) and Ellen Richards (born 1882 in Warwickshire, England). Ellen was four years of age when her family immigrated to QLD on board the Dorunda. Martin was an Engine Driver in Woonona, NSW in 1907 when he married Ellen at Bulli, NSW. In September 1918 Martin was a  Labourer at Bulli, NSW when he enlisted briefly in the AIF. The family then moved to Redbank Plains, Ipswich, QLD where Martin was a Miner.

Albert was a Meatworker at Bergin's Hill in Bundanba, Ipswich QLD when he married Elsie Elizabeth Besgrove (born 1921 in Ipswich, QLD). In 1942 he enlisted in the AMF and served as a Private (Service No:Q107523) with the AASC. Albert served in New Guinea (Milne Bay and Lae) from 21 March 1943 to 28 May 1944 and was Discharged in February 1946. Brother Norman (ACMF, Private, Service No:Q270365) also served in WWII.

Albert was a Meatworker until he retired. He and Elsie moved from Bergin's Hill in Bundanba  to Manly, QLD in 1954, and then to Ormiston in the Redland Bay region of Brisbane, QLD in the early 1970s. Albert died in 2005 and Elsie in 2009.
