Thomas's parents were George Perry and Mary Ann Browne. Thomas was living and working at Terrors Creek in the butter factory when he enlisted on 12 April 1916. Thomas embarked from Brisbane on the A36 Boonah, on 21st October 1916. He was wounded in action on the field 7 June 1917 and on 12 June he was gassed and sent to hospital in England. He rejoined his unit but was again wounded in action 1 September 1918. After the war Thomas returned to Dayboro, he married Mary Jane Baxter in 1920 at Brisbane. Thomas also enlisted in World War II.
