Died on this date - 23rd February........Gunner John Henry (Jack) Dosser was born in Baddaginnie, near Benalla, Victoria in 1897. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 14th April, 1917 as a 20 year old Grocer from Baddaginnie, Victoria.

Gunner Dosser was attached to Field Artillery & arrived at Suez on 27th December, 1917 then proceeded via Italy to France then on to England for further training. He was marched in R.B.A.A. (Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery) at Heytesbury, Wiltshire on 15th February, 1918.

Gunner Dosser arrived in France & on 19th April, 1918 was marched out to 5th Divisional Artillery. He was appointed Driver on 4th December, 1918 & proceeded on leave to UK on 4th February, 1919.
Driver Dosser was admitted to 1st Scottish General Hospital, Aberdeen, Scotland, while on leave from France, on 9th February, 1919 with Influenza. He was reported as dangerously & seriously ill with Broncho Pneumonia on 15th February, 1919. He died at 1 pm on 23rd February, 1919 from Broncho Pneumonia.

Driver Dosser was buried in Springbank Cemetery, Aberdeen, Scotland. The Australian War Memorial Has his rank as Driver, however the Commonwealth War Graves Commission has his headstone as Gunner.
