Son of Thomas Cooper and Ernestine Auguste Cooper nee Kauschke of Union Street, Dulwich, SA formerly of Broken Hill, NSW. Brother of William Thomas Frederick Cooper who returned to Australia who returned to Australia in February 1919 having served with the 43rd Battalion
Served his five year apprencticeship with Bawden Bros.
Commenced return to Australia on 14 January 1919 aboard City of York disembarking on 24 February 1919
