Harold Criddle was one of the six sons of James Criddle (1857-1927) and Emma Pell (1859-1944) from Naraling in Western Australia that volunteered to fight in World War 1.

Harold was captured at the Battle of Bullecourt on the Western Front and was taken Prisoner of War. He was  taken to Fort MacDonald in France and then to Soltau in Germany.

He returned to Australia 5 March 1919.

He received Medals:British War Medal, Victory Medal.
