Son of George Quigley and Harriet Ritchie formerly  Quigley nee Boyd of Crescent Road, Gympie, QLD.

Brother of Albert George Quigley who returned to Australia on 28 October 1916 having served with the 25th Battalion; Leslie William Quigley who returned to Australia on 9 September 1919 having served with the 26th Battalion.

Returned to Australia (first time) on 26 May 1915 aboard HT Ceramic and was later discharged from the isloation camp and allotted to the reinforcements on 5 July 1915.

Re allotted to join the 49th Battalion from reinforcements with the service number of 3460.

Commenced return to Australia (second time) on 5 April 1918 aboard HT Borda disembarking on 1 June 1918 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.
