Biography

"... 3194 Private Ernest Holdsby Mason, 24th Battalion, of Everton, Vic. A blacksmith before enlisting on 22 July 1915, Pte Mason embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Commonwealth with the 7th Reinforcements on 26 July 1915. He was reported missing in action from Pozieres Wood on 5 August 1916, and later presumed to have been killed in action on that date." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
