Wilfred Yelverton DAWSON was born in Aubrey, Shankill County in Dublin, Ireland on 3rd November, 1871 although he stated on his war record that he was born in Hampshire in England
His parents were Yelverton DAWSON & Alice Anne MARTLEY
He had previously served in the Sherwood Foresters & the Cape Mounted Rifles and also served in the Lochs Horse during the Boer War
He enlisted in Sydney on 15th October, 1914 & embarked from Sydney with the 4th Infantry Battalion, A Coy on the HMAT Euripides on 20th October, 1914
Wilfred was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 27th April, 1915 and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery
