Private Stanley William Shipp (Service No:Q203190) enlisted in the ACMF on 3 March 1942 with 4 Battalion (QLD) VDC - Gunner - and was attached to 6 Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery (QLD) VDC at Discharge on 11 December 1944. Stan had served with the Naval Reserves for six years.
The youngest (and only surviving) child of two, Stan was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1904 to Henry William Shipp (b1870 in Mudgee, New South Wales) and Lillian Elizabeth Cahill (b1874 in Sydney, New South Wales). Henry (a Hairdresser and Tobacconist) and Lillian (a single mother with a son) married in 1900 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family. Following Henry's death in 1935, Lillian moved to Brisbane and lived with son Stan.
Stan worked as an Assistant Sales Manger in Sydney, and moved to Brisbane ifollowing his father's death in 1935. Stan was Manager of a Rubber Company in 1943 when he married Melvina (Ferol) Sophie Ferol Taylor (b1902 in Brisbane, QLD) - Ferol worked in brisbane as a Typist and Secretary. In the 1950s Stan and Ferol moved to Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, where they settled and Stan was a Company Manager until his death in 1963. Ferol died in 1984.
