Roy and Mopsy
Roy wrote letters to my mum during the war. He called her Mopsy because of her hair.
He wrote:
"Dear Mopsy
I have tailed them again, for about the third night. I am on guard duty on pay night. It is terrifically hot over here now the other day when we were doing a bit of digging the temperature was 120 degrees. Most of us are fairly sun burnt now and within the next two weeks I think we will be black. Have not had any mail from you for some time but hope I will get two or three letters next time. You know your getting to be a bit of a habit with me so you had better hurry up and write a few more letters. This photo was taken at Khassa, Palestine about six weeks after we had come out of Tobruk. Well Mopsy must close with lots of love + best wishes.
Yours as ever
Roy
