Biography

Douglas Ackland MEGGY was born in 1896 in Paddington, Sydney NSW

His parents were Percy Robert MEGGY and Sarah Myrtle BOONE

He had previous service for 3 years in the Cadets and 1 year Militia when he enlisted on 13th May, 1915 at Liverpool with the Australian Infantry, 3rd Battalion, 9th Re-inforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on HMAT Argyllshire on 30th September 1915

Douglas was Killed in Action between 22nd and 27th July, 1916 in France- No known grave - 

He is listed on the Australian National Memorial in Villers Bretonneux in France, The Australian War Memorial and also  Commemorations in St Peters Anglican Church WW1 Honour Roll and St Clements WW1 Honour Roll

His brother Private Albert Edward MEGGY was also Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 6th August, 1915
