Captain Vivian Norman Lionel Walker (Service No:QX6401) enlisted in the Australian Army in August 1940 and was attached to 2/7 Field Coy Reinforcements when he was Discharged in December 1943.

Born in 1901 in Gympie QLD, Viv was the eldest of two children of Charles Walker (b1878 in Ipswich, QLD) and Marzellah Louisa Beavis Perrett (b1879 in Ipswich, QLD). Charles was eleven years of age when he started working at Guilland's Colliery in Ipswich and by the age of seventeen he was a Gold Miner in Gympie, QLD. Charles and Marzellah married in 1900 in Ipswich QLD and lived in Gympie before settling at Perrett's Hill in Bundamba, Ipswich QLD by 1905. By 1917 Charles was Mine Manager at Aberdare Colliery in Bundamba, Ipswich QLD.

Viv was a Mining Student in 1925 when he married Doris Estelle Beier (b1904 in Loganholme, QLD). The couple settled at Perrett's Hill in Bundamba and following his Discharge, Viv worked as a Mining Engineer until his death in 1954. Doris was a Company Director in Ipswich, QLD where she died in 1972.
