Cedric born in 1894 in Bundaberg was one of 6 sons and 3 daughters born to Francis Jeremy and Fannie Lizzie North (nee Landsborough). Both the North and Landsborough families played significant roles in exploring, surveying and settling Queensland.

His older brother, 1555 Sergeant Roger Guilford North 25th Battalion AIF had been killed in action at Pozieres 29 July 1916, aged 31.

Cedric was originally buried in the Rosenberg Chateau Cemetery in Belgium but his remains were shifted to the Berks Cemetery Extension (Rosenberg Plateau Plots) during 1930.
