Warrant Officer Alan Kenneth Woodyatt (Service No:435306) initially served in the Militia (Gunner; Service No:421805) with 22 Heavy Battery RAA from 2 February 1939, and was 'called out for War Service' (NAA) on 18 April 1940. Gunner Woodyatt (Service Nos:Q187762/QX48630) served in the ACMF with 121 Heavy Battery RAA and 9 Heavy Battery, and was 'in the field' in Bagot, Darwin NT on 20 July 1942 when he transferred to the AIF. Gunner Woodyatt was attached to Bribie Heavy Battery Fort on 18 April 1943 when he Discharged - 'required for services with the RAAF' (NAA). Enlisting in the RAAF on 19 April 1943 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane as an Aircraftman II - mustered as Air Crew - he progressed through the ranks to Warrant Officer - mustered as Pilot Officer - and served in Canada and England from 13 October 1943 to 28 November 1945. WO Woodyatt was attached to 14 Aircrew Holding Unit at Discharge on 17 January 1946.
Alan was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1921, third of four children of Neville Norman St George Woodyatt (b1889 in Brisbane, QLD) and Nellie Caroline Sparkes (b1895 in London, England). Nellie was a Dressmaker in 1913 when she immigrated with her parents and siblings, arriving in Adelaide on board the Ballarat. Neville started work in Brisbane as a Cadet with the Survey Office in the Department of Public Lands, and was a Draftsman when he and Nellie married in Adelaide in 1914. The couple settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Neville worked as a Draftsman/Public Servant.
Alan was working in Brisbane as a Junior Clerk when he enlisted in the Army, and following his Discharge from the RAAF returned to Brisbane. In 1948 Alan was working as a Clerk in Brisbane when he married Alice Helen Hoare (b1920 in Charleville, QLD) - Alice worked as a Clerk in Charleville and then in Brisbane. Alan and Alice settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Alan worked as a Clerk until his death in 1981. Alice died in 2010.
