Son of Robert Quigley and Elizabeth Quigley of Caroline Street, Redfern, NSW.

On 13 April 1916 Francis was admitted to the 11th  Casualty Clearing Station at Serapeum following accident in which he was knocked down by a train seriously injuring his arm and head.

Commenced return to Australia on 2 August 1916 aboard HS Karoola.
