Son of William Henry Owen and Emily Jane McCallum formerly Owen nee McGowan of  Sydney Street, Newtown Tumut, NSW.

On 8 December 1916 Albert married Martha Ayres of Prince Albert Road, Portsmouth, England in the Registry Office, Portsmouth, England. Registrar W. Webb Smith officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 12 May 1918 aboard HT Gaika disembarking on 7 July 1918
