Biography

Wiliam Hannaford enlisted into the AIF and was posted with the 8th Reinforcements, 50th Infantry Battalion. He served on the Western Front and in late 1917 he was transferred to the 43rd Infantry Battalion.

William Hannaford was born September 1890 in Inglewood, South Australia. He worked as a gardner until he enlisted for the AIF at 26. 

He joined the 8th Reinforcement of the 50th infatry battallion. Fighting on the Western Front, in late 1917 William was taken on strength for the 43rd Battallion and served with them until the end of the war.

After the war he returned back to Adelaide. In January 1966 at the age of 75 he passed away and was buried in Centenial Park.
