Husband of Evelyn O'Meara nee Sessions of Heritage Road, West Ryde, NSW formerly of West Hendred, England. John and Evelyn married on 29 March 1917 in the West Hendred Parish Church, Wantage, Berkshire, England. Cyril M. Emmett officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 23 July 1919 aboard RTH Canberra disembarking on 14 September 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.
