Also enlisted for WW1 and served on the home front in the Permanent Guard, Port Darwin, S.N. 4.

When William Beavan enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. Beavan, Roma. In the Boer war Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 2 p. 87, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. J. Beavan, Roma. When he enlisted on 8 Nov 1916 for WW1 he noted on his Attestation Paper that; he was born in Gatton and was 39 years 4 months old; he was a Farmer and living at Graceville, Brisbane; his N.O.K. was his cousin Alfred Miers, Hendra, Brisbane; and he had previously served in South Africa.

William Beavan was born on 12 May 1876 at Gatton, Queensland, a son to William Beavan and Jane Beavan (nee Graham). He married Florence Ethel May Brown on 10 Sep 1919 in Brisbane and they had one child.
