Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

His brother Robert Edwin Berry (Sgt S.N. 452) also served in the 5th QIB and was unfortunately K.I.A. at Onverwacht.

When Thomas Harold Berry enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. Berry, King St, East Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 2 p. 126, it is noted part of his pay was directed to a joint account with his mother Mary Berry.

Thomas Harold Berry was born on 6 Feb 1877 in Queensland, a son to Thomas Henry Berry and Mary Berry (nee Sewell). He married Rose Sands Boyle on 30 Mar 1915 in Queensland and they had 1 child. He worked as a mechanic in the Electrical Workshop Dept. of Brisbane City Council and was last residing at Dutton Park.
