Walter Gilmore Blackford was born on 22 Feb 1881 in Queensland, a son to William Blackford and Alice Blackford (nee Blacker). When he enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. A. Blackford, Gregory Terrace, Brisbane. He married  Matilda Farr on 20 Apr 1908 in Queensland and they had 2 Children.
