Also served in WW1, S.N. 3226 Private Vernon Glen Cameron, 2nd Light Horse Regiment AIF. His WW1 enlistment Attestation Paper notes his previous service in the QIB in the South Africn (Boer) War.

When Vernon Cameron enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as G. Cameron, Sandgate. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, p. 200, it notes he directed part of his pay to his father Mr. G. Cameron, Accountants Branch, Q.D.F.

Vernon Cameron was born on 8 May 1882 in Queensland, a son to John Glenevis Cameron and Elizabeth Ann Cameron (nee Smith). His father, who went by the name Glen Cameron, died at his home at Sandgate on 1 Jun 1927. In his obituary published in The Brisbane Courier the next day it notes he served as the Cheif Accountant and Paymaster for the Qld Defence Force (later Defence Force of the Commonwealth) in Brisbane. 

Vernon Cameron also went by the name Vernon Glen Cameron when he married Margaret Louise Clunn on 28 Nov 1911 at Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. They had 2 children while residing at Sandgate. He qualified as an accountant and was working in the office of the Commissioner for Railways by 1927.
