Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Corporal H. A. Campbell,
was killed at Gallipoli on November 18, 1915, after having survived the landing at Anzac and seven continuous months in the  trenches with the famous 16th Battalion.
The late Corporal Campbell had previously served through the South African campaig as Quarter-Master Sergeant of the Second  West Australian contingent, for which he received the Queen's Medal with five clasps. A touching tribute was paid to his memory, a tribute which his aged father prizes most highly, in that on the anniversary of his death his comrades then serving in France  sent a  'Memoriam Notice' to the 'West Australian' under the heading 'To the memory of a good friend and gallant soldier.'
