Captain F.W.C. Crane, quartermaster of the Fifth Battalion, Commonwealth Horse, is 35 years of age, and a popular officer. For over 19 years he has been chamber magistrate at Paddington Police Court. In 1877 he joined the St. George's Rifles as second lieutenant; In January, 1899, was promoted to first lieutenant, and a year later received his captaincy. He has on several occasions acted temporarily, us quartermaster, particularly at Rookwood with the Imperial Bushmen. In military and cycling circles especially he is popular. He holds tho offices of chairman of the council of tho Now South Wales Cyclists' Union, chairman of directors of the New South Wales Sports Club Limited, besides being president of several affiliated clubs. Captain Crane passed with honors in his military examinations.
