Son of James Unsworth and Jane Eliza Unsworth nee Barwick of York Plains, Tasmania.
25 October 1916 - enlisted at Claremont, Tasmania with the 12th Battalion with the rank of Private.
Commenced return to Australia on 18 July 1919 aboard HT Takada disembarking on 10 September 1919
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
6 November 1919 - discharged at the 6th Military District as medically unfit
