Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When Arthur Henry Eva enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father, Blight St, Gympie. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 4 p. 4, it is noted his address after discharge was Blight St, Gympie. In a newspaper article, Notes and News- The Gympie Times, 8 May 1902, p. 3, it noted Bugler Eva along with 3 other members of The Fighting Fifth had returned to Gympie.

Arthur Henry Arthur was born about 1879 possibly in NSW, a son to William Henry Eva and Mary Eva (nee Roberts). He married Mary Long on 27 Sep 1910 in Queensland and they had 4 children.

Three of their sons served in WW2 in the R.A.A.F., 505202 Sergeant Ernest Richard Eva (M.I.A. presumed K.I.A.), 426564 Flying Officer Noel David Eva, 6702 Sergeant Bernard Arthur Eva. Their respective service Attestation Forms noted they were born at Gympie, Gympie, and Many Peaks. Noel and Ernest nominated their mother Mrs. Mary Eva, Blackburn St, Moorooka, Brisbane, as their N.O.K. When their father, Arthur, passed in 1939 his funeral notice noted he was late of Blackburn St, Moorooka.
