22 Jan 1917: Honoured Military Medal, 'The Winter Offensive' - Flers/Gueudecourt winter of 1916/17, For gallantry and devotion to duty at Flers on 5/6 November 1916 in collecting wounded continuously for 36 hours, in no man's land, under heavy shelling and machine gun fire.

12 Oct 1918: Transferred AIF WW1, Corporal, 26th Infantry Battalion
24 Jan 1919: Honoured Military Medal and bar, The Battle of Amiens, For gallantry and leadership at Vauvillers, near Amiens on 9 August 1918 when in charge of stretcher bearers, this N.C.O. went out numerous times under very heavy machine gun fire bringing in wounded. Again, during an attack on 10 August he was responsible for bringing in all the wounded in a very short time under close range rifle and machine gun fire. He went out twice with another man, to almost an enemy post in in daylight, to bring in two wounded under machine gun fire and sniping, crawling most of the way.
