He died in Brisbane in early December 1970, aged 90. (Qld BDM: 1970 B19877 William Francis Gordon David Gordon Mary Ellen Robinson).

He was buried on 9 December 1970 at Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery (BCC: Grave Location Search).

Personal Characteristics: He was born on the 1/12/1880 at Ferny Grove, Brisbane, Queensland to the parents of David & Mary Ellen GORDON. Frank Gordon claimed to be the youngest Queenslander to go to the Boer War, apart from a drummer boy.

Details of service in war: April 1900 - April 1901 in Rhodesia, west Transvaal including relief of Mafeking (16-17 May 1900), defeat at Koster River (22 July 1900) and defence of Elands River Post (4-16 August 1900), and in northern Transvaal including battle of Rhenoster Kop (29 November 1900), and advance on Pietersburg.

Service and life after the Boer War: Frank and his brother Thomas Henry (Harry) Gordon both went to the Boer War. When Frank and Harry Gordon returned from the Boer War, they selected adjacent properties at Cedarton, when Durundur Station was thrown open for closer settlement. Frank also bought 2 properties at Conondale and put share farmers on them. He was a top cattle and horseman, and owned several race horses, some of which won important races in Brisbane. Frank died a few days after his 90th birthday, after spending his last day at the races. .
