Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Onslow Frederick Stanley Hill was born on 29 Jun 1881 at Ravenswood, Queensland, a son to William Richard Onslow "Willie" Hill (Police Magistrate, Mackay) and Emily Hill (nee Wilson). Following his Boer War service he returned to South Africa where he married Ivannah Gray Kirkpatrick "Ivy" Craig (reported as born in Qld 1884) on 23 Jun 1907 at Durban. It appears they returned to Queensland where their first child was born in 1914 with Ivy unfortunately passing away following childbirth. Onlsow remarried to Agnes Minnie Burton Bradley on 12 Jul 1919.

He served twice in the South African (Boer) War. First service was as a Private S.N. 213 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. Second service was as a Private S.N. 636 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
