Born 16 March 1879 at Paddington, New South Wales, Australia to Sir Joseph George and Emily Jane Long Innes, nee Smith. 1939 at Home Farm, the residence of the Ingram family, farmer. His occupation Retired Major. Civilian attached to the War Office M.16
Died 19 July 1952 at the National Temperance Hospital, Hampstead Road, London. Last known address was The United Service Club, Pall Mall, London. His effects went to Mary Ethel Long Innes, spinster. He joined the Royal Australian Artillery aged 23 years and 2 months 21 April 1902 -1906. Canadian Military Force Ordnance Corps 1906-1911. Irish Guards 1914-1920
Enlisted in England at the outbreak of War, was appointed from the Canadian Forces as Captain and posted to the Irish Guards Special Reserve 10 November 1914, crossing to France, joined the 1st Battalion at Richsbourge St. Vaast 11 January 1915 and received multiple gunshot wounds at Guinchy, 1st February 1915. On recovery he became Officer Commanding 4th Coy. Wounded again at the same place 15 September 1916
Promoted to Major 16 September 1916
Officer Commanding 2nd Battalion Irish Guards in France from the 27 March 1918 until demobilised 5 August 1920

The undermentioned Officers of the 5th Battalion 1 Australian Commonwealth Horse are granted temporary rank in the Army whilst 'serving" in South Africa, as follows. Dated 22nd May, 1902. To be Lieutenants. Lieutenant Percival Selwyn Long Innes and many others.

Capt. Percival Selwyn Long-Innes, Irish Guards Special Reserve
For conspicuous gallantry. Though wounded in two places, in the attack, he continued to direct his platoons from a shell hole, and set a fine example of courage and determination.
