When Henry Johnstone enlisted in 1901 and his details wer published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as C. W. Johnstone, Mt. Pleasant Rd, Gympie. In the original Nominal Roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, it is noted his N.O.K. was his father C. W. Johnstone, Mt. Pleasant Rd, Gympie.
In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 122, it is noted he gave his address as Nashville, North Coast Line. Nashville is the train station/stop in Gympie adjacent Mt Pleasant Road. Henry's father, Charles, passed in 1908 and his death notice published in the Gympie Times, 21 Jan 1908, noted he passed at his residence, Mt. Pleasant Road, after enduring six months of illness.
Henry Johnstone was born on 1 Oct 1880 in Queensland, a son to Charles Johnstone and Ana Maria Johnstone (nee Widmaier). He married Anna Flora Wright on 22 Dec 1909 in Queensland and they had 5 children.
