William Thomas Kemp was born on 11 Oct 1857 at Cornwall, England, a son to William George Kemp and Elizabeth Rachel Kemp (nee Honnor). It is unclear when he came to Qld, however, he married Elizabeth Bogan on 23 Jan 1882 in Qld and they raised 8 children. Records indicate he was serving in the Queensland Mounted Infantry, Mackay subdivision as an officer from 1891.
