Frank William Lucas was born on 6 May 1874 at Goondiwindi, Qld, a son to William George Lucas and Annie Lucas (nee Brennan).
He served twice in the South African (Boer) War and again served in WW1. First service was as a Private S.N.313 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Boer War. Second service was as a Private S.N. 942 in the 1st Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse, Boer War. Third service was in WW1 as a Private rising to Lance Corporal S.N. 3046 in the 10th Light Horse Regiment AIF, WW1.
He spent his working life as a Stockman initially around the Goondiwindi area and then the Halls Creek area in Western Australia.
