Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Percy Edgar McNamara enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. J. M. Lee, Hughenden. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 171, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his sister Mrs. J. M. Lee, Hughenden. His older sister, Maria (Mary) Jane McNamara, had married John M. Lee in 1895 at Queanbeyan, NSW, and they had relocated to Queensland.
Percy Edgar McNamara was born on 25 Oct 1882 at Queanbeyan, NSW, a son to Michael McNamara and Ellen McNamara (nee McTernan/McTierney). He married Margaret Catherine Ginnivan in 1916 at Benalla, Victoria, and they had 4 children. After the birth of their first child in Benalla they made their home in NSW where Percy was a long term serving police constable serving in various localities in NSW.
