He had spent time in various hospitals (Gallipoli, Malta, Heliopolis) from 20th or 21st October 1915 to 9th February 1916. He had enteric fever, which he did not fully recover from.
14 Jun 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Private, 1st Infantry Battalion, Frank was allocated to the 19th reinforcements, 1st Battalion.
