15 May 1918: Wounded AIF WW1, Captain, Commissioned, 4th Machine Gun Battalion, Wounded by a piece of high explosive shell in the right side, right arm and thorax penetrating the abdomen. He was quickly conveyed to the nearest dressing station and from there by Motor Ambulance to the 47th Casualty Clearing Station situated at Crouy (Somme). He lingered there for two days and succumbed to his wounds at that Dressing Station on the 18th May . His wound did not appear serious at first, but it was found out when he reached the Dressing Station that the piece of shell has penetrated his right lung. He died of Haemorrhage and Sepsis.
