William Herbert Hicks
He was born in St Kilda, Victoria in 1891.Private Hicks lived on Harold Street Blacktown with his wife Laura.His next of kin was his beloved wife Laura Hicks.
Private Hicks enlisted in the army on the 13th of January 1915. He was 24 when he enlisted. William Herbert Hicks embarked from Sydney on the H.M.A.T Argyllshire A8 on April 10th 1915.
Private Hicks was a storeman before he enlisted.
Private Hicks served with the First Battalion on the Western Front.
In the Battle of Fromelles , France on the 19th of July 1916 Private Hicks was shot in the back and transferred to No.2 Australian Clearing Station.
Private Hicks died when he was 25 due to pneumonia and bronchitis on the 8th December 1916.
