TOMMASI.— At Brisbane, on Sunday, 28th inst., Albert Ernest (Bert) Tommasi, beloved Husband of Marion and loving Father of Charles and James.— Cannon & Cripps, Ltd., Funeral Directors.
TOMMASI.—The Relatives & Friends of Mrs. A. E. Tommasi, of O'Connell Terrace, Bowen Hills, Rev. Father C. M. Tommasi (Murgon), Mr & Mrs. J. H. Tommasi & Family (Hendra), Mr. & Mrs. V. C. Tommasi & Family (Melbourne) & Misses Florence & Gertrude Mansell are invited to attend the Funeral of her beloved Husband, their Father. Father-in-law, Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law & Uncle, Mr. Albert Ernest (Bert) Tommasi, Veteran of African Boer War, to leave Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, Bowen Hills, To-morrow (Tuesday) Morning at 10 o'clock, for the Nudgee Cemetery. His surname has been recorded incorrctly as Tommassie in the AWM Boer War Nominal Roll by Murray p. 515 with the original nominal roll for the 5th Qld (Imperial Bushmen) Contingent held by National Archives Australia; the Boer War Service Paybook; and BDM Qld birth register recording it as Tommasi.
When Bertie Ernest Tommasi enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as C. C. Tomassi, Railway Department, Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 90, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. N. K. Tommasi, Old Sandgate Rd, Nundah.
Alberto (Bert) Ernesto Tommasi was born on 19 Aug 1878 in Queensland, a son to Carlo Luigi Casini Tommasi and Nora Tommasi (nee Howard). His father worked in the Chief Engineer's Office of the Railway Department. Alberto married Mary Ann Mansell on 30 Jun 1917 in Queensland and they had 2 children. They were last living in Bowen Hills, Brisbane, when Alberto passed in 1949.
