When Edward Vernon Turner enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his photo was published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his brother R. Turner (Richard Robert Turner), South Brisbane. He married Mary Alice Couser on 13 Dec 1902 in Brisbane and later divorced. He married a second time to Agnes Mary Emma Gilbert on 14 Oct 1911 and they had 2 children.
