Charles Ernest Walden was born on 23 Dec 1879 in Queensland, a son to Thomas Walden and Eliza Walden (nee Howard). When he enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as his father Thomas Walden at Woolloongabba. He married Elizabeth Albertina Berry and they had 2 children.
