Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Reginald Augustus Whippham appears to have been recorded on the Boer War Nominal Roll, Murray p. 513, with his surname spelt incorrectly. The Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, p. 171, held by the Qld State Archives notes his surname as Whipham as does his photo published in The Queenslander with the rank and file on 13 Apr 1901, p. 716, with his N.O.K noted as his mother Mrs. K. A. Whipham.

He also enlisted in WW1 under Reginald Augustus Whipham as a Lance Corporal S.N. 226 in the 2nd Light Horse Regiment AIF. In his Attestation Paper for this enlistment he notes his previous service in the Boer War and again gives his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. K. A. Whipham. He is incorrectly recorded in the VWMA profile for S.N. 226 as K.I.A. when he actually died in Brisbane in 1917 from bronchial pneumonia as is recorded on the AWM Roll of Honour.

Reginald Augustus (Hay) Whipham was born on 23 Sep 1880 at Roma, Queensland, a son to Reginald Arthur Whipham and Catherine Angela Carrigg. He was unmarried at the time of his passing.
