My Great Grandfather

Sydney Felix FRECKLETON... (The correct spelling of his name is Sidney Felix F-R-E-C-K-E-L-T-O-N)

My great grandfather was born 17 Mar 1882 and he died on 01 Feb 1955

He received the Queen's South Africa medal and 3 clasps, NSW Naval Contingent to China (Boxer Rebellion). Rank of "Bugler RM" in the New South Wales Naval Contingent to China 1900-1901. He embarked on 08 Aug 1900 aboard the SS Salamis, and returned to Australia on 25 Apr 1901 per SS Chingtu.

His surname is also recorded as spelled F-R-E-K-L-E-T-O-N, F-R-I-C-K-L-E-T-O-N and F-R-E-C-K-L-E-T-O-N, but the correct spelling is F-R-E-C-K-E-L-T-O-N.

Noted in the Sydney Morning Herald August 1901 as 163 Bugler S. F. FRICKLETON China Contingent, indulgence passenger to Africa aboard Britannic 20.8.1901.

On arriving in Africa he then also served in the Boar war as trooper 39701 FRECKELTON Sidney Felix 2nd Scottish Horse Tpr. per 'Britannic' enlisted 20.9.1901 discharged Cape Town 30.4.1902 on completion of service.
