William Thomas SYDNEY was born on 14th February, 1899 in Ladysmith, Natal, South Africa

His parents were Frederick William & Marie

He enlisted in Adelaide on 30th August, 1915 and embarked from Adelaide on the HMAT Borda on 11th Jauary, 1916 with the 32nd Infantry Battalion - he was transferred to the 16th Infantry Battalion on 2nd January, 1918

He was wounded on 8th August, 1918 with gunshot wounds and a fractured elbow and returned to Australia on 13th February 1919 on the ship Aeneas and discharged as medically unfit on 1st April 1919

He married Constance Joy CHEYNE in Sydney in 1919 - divorced in South Australia in 1935

He remarried to Mary Hurstfield BATSON on 3rd February, 1937 in the Registry Office in Adelaide - at the time he was also using the surname JAY

William died in Adelaide in 1964
