In a Nutshell.
Left Miles State High School 1963, aged 15, went towork on cattle properties, until called up for National Service in July, 1969.
Basic Training Singleton, 3TB.
Opted for Infantry, posted to Townsville for Corp Training with Cadre Coy run by 4RAR recently returned from SVN. Marched into 2RAR, intense training in preparation for tour of SVN. Canungra, High Range, Shoalwater. Pre-embarkation leave. Flew to SVN (Sydney in drydock) late May '70. Nui Dat. Operations. Brassed up Soui Ben Tau late July '70. Left hospital September, back in field, R&R Hong Kong. Back to work, RTA June 1971, left army July '71.
Went Sandmining '71-'75. To Greece, UK, South Africa 1975. More Construction and Mining '76-'77. Cocoa Copra Plantation management PNG '77-'79. Gasline, construction, '79, Azbestos mining Woodsreef, '80.
Mining coal, nickel, coal. USQ '91, Degree in Survey Technology,'95. Construction supervision/engineering until 2010. Retired.
