Private James Henry Binks (Service No:2137A) enlisted in the AIF on 27 March 1916 and embarked from Fremantle with 51st Infantry Battalion on 9 August 1916 on board HMAT A28 Militiades. Private Binks served in France with the ANZAC Light Rail Operating Coy, 17th Division Light Rail Operating Coy and 3rd Australian Light Rail Operating Coy, and was hospitalised on several occasions with Trench Fever, Scabies and Influenza. Private Binks embarked for the RTA on 1 June 1919 on board HT Somali and was attached to 3rd Australian Light Rail Operating Coy at Discharge on 22 August 1919. Private Binks served with the ACMF in WWII - Private (Service No:W24299) attached to 10th Garrison Battalion (WA) VDC from 10 October 1939 to 30 August 1940.

Born in 1884 in Echuca Victoria, Harry was the third of nine children of James Henry Binks Snr (b1845 in Campbelltown, Tasmania) and Eliza Richardson Cooper (b1856 in Northamptonshire, England) - Eliza immigrated in 1871, arriving in Melbourne on board the Stonehouse. James Snr (a Labourer) and Eliza married in 1878 in Moama, NSW and settled in Echuca, Victoria where they raised their family and James Snr was a Labourer. Following Eliza's death in 1896, James Snr remarried and had a further five children with his second wife.

Harry worked as a Railway Guard at Wellington Mills via Dardanup WA, and in 1916 in Perth married Alice May McCole McGregor Brown (aka May; b1890 at Lakes Entrance, Victoria). Harry and May settled at Wellington Mill where they raised their family and Harry was a Railway Guard before moving to East Kirrup via Collie, WA in the early 1930s. Harry worked as a Railway Guard until retirement in the late 1930s, when he and May moved to Perth - Harry was a Pensioner when he enlisted in the ACMF in 1939. Harry died in 1951 and May in 1989.
