Don was awarded a Life Membership with the RSL for his work at the Borertown sub branch. his service included being a committee member from 1965 to 90, president 1977,79 and in the role of caretaker from 1981 to 90.

For Legacy he worked hard and donated a sheild for a bowling tourement between Keith Bordertown and Mundulla. He kept the green and surroundings of the Bowling Club.  For the Mundulla Football Clunb he was goal umpire for the reserves.
