Leading Seaman H. A. (Mick) Chaffey, of Hobart, who is missing with H.M.A.S. Perth, was a prominent member of the South Hobart soccer team and a keen member of the Sandy Bay Club. He was selected in thc Tasmanian life-saving team which visited Sydney some years ago.
