Arthur Gabriel Slater was born in Carlton, Victoria on 25 June 1901 to parents Arthur Davey Slater and Rosetta Matilda Slater (nee Donnelly).

Headstone reads "In loving memory of George D. SLATER died 16 Feb 1890 also our dear parents Rosetta M. SLATER, died 2 Sep 1934 Arthur D. SLATER, died 15 Apr 1958 Also Arthur G. SLATER died 14 Oct 1961."
